Usage

The Windows Recovery Options Command Prompt is a good place to troubleshoot and fix some operating system startup errors. A typical example is when you have a corrupt profile and windows failed to load correctly.

How to Gain Access

There are two methods to access the Recovery Options Command Prompt:-

Option 1.

  • Boot your systemoff the Operating System Installation Disk or System Repair Disk.
  • When presented with the screen to Change Keyboard Layout, hold down SHIFT + F10 or:
  • You can boot to the System Recovery Options screen and then select Command Prompt.
  • To access the registry from the command Prompt, simply type: regedit and press Enter.

Option 2.

  • Boot your system into Advanced Boot Options by tapping F8 after the POST screen disappears.
  • When presented with the Advanced Boot Options screen, select Safe Mode With Command Prompt and press ENTER.

  • All systems running Microsoft Windows 7
