If you find the screen difficult to read in Windows 8 you can increase the size of content to make it easier.

To do this follow these steps:

  1. Go to the desktop by clicking the 'Desktop' tile on the start screen
  2. Right-click on an empty part of the desktop
  3. Click on 'Screen resolution'
  4. Click on 'Make text and other items larger or smaller' near the bottom of the window
  5. Move the slider towards 'Larger' to increase the size of items within Windows 8
  6. Click 'Apply' at the bottom of the window

The changes are applied after signing out and then back into your account.

For example, originally the top of Internet Explorer looks like this:

Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8 Standard Sizing

and after increasing the sizing it looks like this:

Internet Explorer 11 in Windows 8 with Larger Sizing

Applies to:

  • All systems running Microsoft Windows 8.x
