Some home user PCs or notebooks come with some extra programs already installed. Below is a brief description of some of the programs available.

Tip: You may only have some of the programmes listed - if you don't have some of these, many are available as free downloads.

Google Sketchup

Google SketchUp gives you the ability to easily create your own 3D models. With an easy-to-use interface and a wide array of Help features, it's the perfect tool for beginner and intermediate designers alike.

Google Earth

Google Earth is a virtual globe, map and geographical information program using satellite photographs of the world. You can use Google Earth to find driving directions, find nearby restaurants, measure the distance between two locations or do serious research.

Net Intelligence

Netintelligence is a Parental Control and Security Software which is designed to help parents monitor and also if required, restrict their children's Internet activity. More details can be found on our knowledgebase website at https://kb.stonegroup.co.uk/index.php?View=entry&EntryID=299

EB Wordbanks

WordBanks allows writers to send whole words or phrases directly into a word processor by simply pointing and clicking. Speech feedback allows writers to listen to words or phrases before selecting, giving them an informed choice. WordBanks can encourage poor spellers to use more complex words than they can normally spell, and also speeds up the writing process.

Claro Read

ClaroRead is designed to make it easier for you to do things with your computer by making it speak and making things easier to read. ClaroRead will read back letters, words and sentences as they are typed, so that struggling writers can listen for mistakes whilst writing.

It also includes many easy ways to make the text clearer and more visible, including useful text checking tools, to aid you in creating the most accurate documents.

Screen Ruler

ScreenRuler allows part of the screen to be highlighted or underlined. It can assist you with viewing and concentrating on text. It provides a "strip" across the screen in a colour of your choice and allows you to have the rest of the screen coloured and darkened out if desired.

Sensory Switch Software

1-2-3 Paint

1-2-3 Painthas a high contrast mode and four levels with different degrees of difficulty. Each painting step is accompanied by a sound to add interest and motivation. It includes an activity which rewards you with an animation when you copy the image correctly.

Alphabet Paint

An enjoyable educational experience for everybody who likes colouring pictures, being noisy and getting rewarded with funny animations.

Ameba

Ameba provides a multisensory environment (sounds and images) which users can interact with using pointing devices, overlay keyboards or their voice/sounds.

Magma

This is similarto Ameba. It works particularly well with commercial gamepads/joysticks. It responds to input with a variety of stimuli both visual and auditory. It isgenerally much more calming and quieter than the Ameba software.
