The Hotkey Utility

The Stone NT310 laptop, like most laptops, uses add-on software to bring extra functionality and features to Windows.

Stone provides the Hotkey Utility which provides extra on-screen display information and additional Hotkey functionality.

Problem

  • If you upgrade from Windows 8.0 to Windows 8.1, you may find that this Hotkey Utility stops working and displays an error message on boot, or if you try and reinstall it.
  • If you are running Windows 7, you may find that the Hotkeys are intermittently unresponsive.
  • You may get an error message when the system boots saying that the "System needs to be restarted again. Make sure all driver is installed."

Resolution

An updated version of the Hotkey Utility is now available. Use the steps below to update your software.

Steps - Windows 7

  • Uninstall the previous version of the Hotkey utility if installed.
  • Reboot.
  • Download and install the latest version for Windows 7 (previous version here here).

Steps - Windows 8

  • Uninstall the previous version of the Hotkey utility if installed.
  • Reboot.
  • Download and install the latest Hotkey Utility for Windows 8 / Windows 8.1.

Steps - Windows 8.1

  • Uninstall the previous version of the Hotkey utility if installed.
  • Reboot the system and use the F2 key to go into the BIOS.
  • Check the BIOS version. If you have a BIOS version lower than 1.03.02 you will need to update the BIOS first.
  • Boot the system back up.
  • Download and install the latest Hotkey Utility for Windows 8 / Windows 8.1.
